Nawa-i-Waqt Newspaper Information

Nawa-i-Waqt is an Urdu daily newspaper in Pakistan. It was launched on March 23, 1940, under the leadership of Hameed Nizami. His younger brother Majid Nizami is the current owner-editor. It is one of the most influential newspapers in the country. It has a special position in Pakistan's media, as the guardian of Pakistan's ideology, with strong anti-Indian and anti-American views. However, it is not particularly noted for its commitment to factual accuracy and fair comment. It routinely describes India as the eternal and cunning enemy. On July 8, 2005, the paper editorially suggested that the U.S. had orchestrated not only the 9/11 attacks, but also the London bombings of July 7, 2005. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Azhar in his column of March 16, 2005 described 9/11 as a “drama” and Al-Qaeda as an imaginary organization. The paper firmly believes that the U.S., Israel and India have formed a satanic alliance to destroy Pakistan.
