Southwest Times Record Newspaper Information

The Southwest Times Record is a daily newspaper in Fort Smith, Arkansas and covers ten counties in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. It is owned and published by Stephens Media LLC.

The newspaper was founded in 1884 as the evening Fort Smith Times. In 1909, it merged with the Fort Smith News Record, another evening paper to become the Fort Smith Times Record. John Parks and George Carney bought the Times Record in 1920, and three years later bought Fort Smith's daily morning paper, the Southwest American, which had began publication in 1907.
